Former World No. 1 Shuts the Door on Absurd LIV Golf Claims

LIV Golf was incorporated late in 2021. It’s been a thorn in the side of the PGA Tour ever since. Numerous players left the Tour to join the other side, and even more, are currently rumored to do so. Earlier this year, rumors circulated that former world number one, Adam Scott, was considering leaving the tour. Only recently did the PGA Tour star open up and deny those speculations.

Scott recently spoke to Eurosport and said that he thought this was the best time to be on the PGA Tour. He denied all the speculations that were suggesting that he was leaving the tour for the Saudi-backed league. He said“I don’t know that there’s ever been a better time to be a member of the PGA Tour.”

The former world No. 1 explained that, of late, many of the tour events had their prize money increased, leaving many players yearning for a win. He stated, “All of a sudden there are these 13 elevated events that are at least double the money we’ve ever played for.”

Despite not winning on the Tour last season, Scott had five top-ten finishes. He also won nearly $3 million. He certainly hopes that his prize money will at least double next year. But that’s not Adam’s only goal. He set himself the lofty goal of winning all four majors. And that is the main reason the Australian isn’t defecting to LIV golf to join the likes of Cameron Smith.

Adam Scott is aiming for the grand slam

The 42-year-old currently holds only a single major, having won the Masters in 2013. But he still believes he has a shot at achieving his huge goal of a career grand slam. He said, “I want to win all the majors, and that sounds like a lot, but really it’s three more events.”

Scott still has lots of spirit and a lot of experience. He claims he just needs to put it all together. He explained, “It’s just got to be the right week. I have all the tools. I’m still very healthy.” Adam wants to accomplish all his goals as a player, and he believes he must do everything possible to achieve them.

Despite time not being on his side, he is determined to try and get closer to his dreams. He explained, “I want to fulfill my dreams and goals as a player and time is less on my side now. I have to do everything I can to make sure I give myself the best chance.” And Scott believes the PGA Tour is the best chance for him to do so, and not LIV Golf.
