Germany Will Not Supply Taurus Missiles to Ukraine for Now – Ambassador

The German government will not yet supply Ukraine with Taurus long-range missiles.

Details: He noted that the Ukrainian side was informed about this decision.

“There will now be no deliveries of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. In my opinion, the federal government and the German Chancellor have made this very clear. We also informed the Ukrainian government about this decision, and informed it in detail. And for now this is all I can say publicly about this about it,” Yeager emphasized.

At the same time, he added that simultaneously with the recent decision on Taurus, information also appeared about Germany’s preparation of an assistance package for Ukraine worth a billion euros.

“It will also include really important components that will help strengthen your air defense. By the way, today Germany – perhaps, if you do not take into account the United States – is the leading country investing in your air defense,” the ambassador said.

He recalled that Germany recently announced that it would provide Ukraine with another Patriot complex. We are talking about a complete system that includes a command post, radar, several launchers and missiles.

“So we continue to support you, and the weapons that we supply are of real importance,” Yeager added.

Let us remind you:

  • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz explained on October 5 that Germany has not yet made a decision on supplying Ukraine with Taurus long-range missiles because it is trying to prevent an escalation of the war .
  • Bild previously reported that  the Chancellor is concerned that  in order for Ukraine to use Taurus missiles, Berlin will have to provide geodata on Russian targets. Thus, according to the Chancellor, Germany will be forced to take a more active part in the war.
  • Scholz is also concerned that Ukraine could use missiles to hit the Kerch Bridge connecting occupied Crimea to Russia.
