Michigan Basketball Loses Another Player to the Transfer Portal

The revolving door that is Michigan’s men’s basketball roster this spring saw another player exit on Monday.

Gregg Glenn III, a freshman who appeared in just four games last season for a total of 11 minutes, entered the transfer portal, a program spokesperson confirmed to MLive.

Glenn, a 6-foot-7 forward from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was a four-star recruit ranked No. 124 in the class per the 247Sports composite. He told at least some members of the Michigan basketball program last week of his intention to transfer.

Glenn never cracked the rotation and could be in line for a redshirt given his limited playing time. He appeared in two games in November, one in December, and saw action for the final time on Jan. 1. His appearances came at the tail end of blowouts. He totaled six points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists for the season.

Glenn is the third Wolverine to enter the portal since the season ended, joining Isaiah Barnes, who has committed to Tulsa, and Hunter Dickinson. Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin have declared for the NBA draft, while Joey Baker will also turn pro instead of pursuing a sixth season. That leaves just six returning scholarship players, with a possible seventh if Jaelin Llewellyn is granted a medical redshirt.

On the flip side, head coach Juwan Howard has been active in the portal, bringing in three players so far: Alabama guard Nimari Burnett, Seton Hall forward Tray Jackson, and North Carolina guard Caleb Love.

There is room for two or three more players, meaning Howard might not be done building the roster for 2023-24.
