Five local health care industry employers and a local school district were among the top employers in the state for 2022, according to a recently released listing from Forbes.
No central Ohio employers ranked in the top 10 for the best employers in the state, as compiled by Forbes, but 14 employers did make the total list.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital barely missed the top 10, ranking 11th for Ohio and top in the Columbus area.
The top employer in the state was Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Other central Ohio health care employers that made the list included Cardinal Health (No. 18), OhioHealth (No. 24), Adena Health System in Chillicothe (No. 29) and Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center (No. 33).
Ohio State University, excluding the hospital system, came in at No. 28 in the survey.
Olentangy Local School District ranked No. 26, while Battelle Memorial Institute ranked No. 27.
Several national companies with headquarters in Columbus also made the list, including Huntington National Bank at No. 32 and Nationwide Mutual Insurance at No. 50. JP Morgan Chase, which is based in New York but has a large workforce in central Ohio, was listed at No. 51 on the survey.
Forbes used surveys at companies with 500 or more employees to gather data for the rankings. The surveys asked for rankings on topics related to work environment, gender pay equity, benefits packages and compensation, advancement opportunities and whether the employee would recommend working there to a friend.
