GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A state fair marathon may conjure images of how many things you can eat on a stick but the fair also promotes healthy living.
Billed as the “fastest, flattest course in the nation”, the Nebraska State Fair Marathon attracts runners from near and far.
A couple of runners are attempting to run in all 50 states. It also serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier.
The Grand Island YMCA coordinates the event in partnership with the fair. The course takes runners through the community and the finish line is right inside the front gate and if runners need some carbs after the race there are plenty of options.
