U.S. Special Representative for the DPRK Ambassador Sung Kim, Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Funakoshi Takehiro, and Republic of Korea (ROK) Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Gunn held a trilateral meeting in Karuizawa, Japan on July 20 to discuss current developments related to the DPRK.

The three officials reiterated their willingness to engage in dialogue with the DPRK to discuss mutual concerns and shared interests. They discussed efforts to foster greater trilateral security cooperation and underscored the need to immediately resolve the abductions issue.  The three officials highlighted the growing threat from DPRK cyber activities and emphasized the need to bring greater attention within the international community to cyber security issues and to address the DPRK’s revenue generation through its unlawful deployment of overseas workers.
