Reuters: The United States may approve the supply of ATACMS or GMLRS long-range missiles to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, September 11. /TASS/. The US presidential administration is close to approving the supply of long-range missiles with cluster warheads to Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters , citing sources.

According to their information, Washington may send either ATACMS or GMLRS missiles to Kyiv. Ukraine may receive both types of weapons from the United States, but no final decision has been made, the publication’s sources noted. If the decision is affirmative, the United States has the opportunity to “quickly send Kyiv” these missiles.

As Reuters notes, the Biden administration has been intensely discussing the possibility of this supply for several months, as Washington fears that this step will be perceived as “too aggressive an action” against Russia.

Earlier, the ABC television company reported that the United States may include ATACMS in the next package of military assistance to Kyiv. But as the head of the State Department press service, Matthew Miller, said at a briefing for journalists on Monday, Washington has not changed its position regarding possible deliveries of ATACMS to Ukraine and is not transferring them to Kyiv.

ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km can be launched using the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. Kyiv has repeatedly turned to Washington with a request to provide ATACMS missiles.
