Assistance was transferred as part of the implementation of the National Action Plan of Tajikistan under UN Security Council Resolution 1540.
The official ceremony of handing over military supplies to the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tatarstan took place on February 8.
Director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda, as the national coordinator, handed over military supplies for use by the SCNS on behalf of the US Department of Energy.
This technical assistance was provided as part of the Green Border Security Project, which aims to strengthen the law enforcement infrastructure of the Republic of Tajikistan along the border with Afghanistan.
As part of the implementation of this project, it is planned to transfer overalls, body armor, equipment for conducting operations in mountainous areas, special protective uniforms for demining, night vision devices, binoculars, monoculars, transceivers (radio stations), special military vehicles, vehicles in which sensitive equipment for detecting illegal traffic of nuclear and radioactive materials and a number of others.
