The United States has agreed to supply ATACMS missiles to Ukraine on an ongoing basis.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the air of “Breakfast with 1+1”.
According to him, Ukraine will also be able to receive more ATACMS.
“This is a direct result of the agreements between President Zelensky and President Biden, which were reached in Washington during their personal meeting at the end of September,” said the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.
At the same time, the Foreign Minister did not say whether the Ukrainian troops would be provided with these weapons with a range of up to 300 kilometers. Because for now Ukraine has ATACMS, which are capable of hitting targets 165 kilometers away.
ATACMS for Ukraine
Let us recall that on October 17, the military-political leadership of Ukraine officially announced that Ukraine received the first long-awaited ATACMS missiles and successfully used them.
The transfer of missiles became known after the attack on the night of October 17: Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked Russian aircraft and other equipment at airfields near occupied Lugansk and Berdyansk. Special operations forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that 9 Russian helicopters, special equipment, an air defense launcher, an ammunition depot were destroyed, and airfield runways were damaged. In addition, enemy casualties amount to dozens of dead and wounded.
Telegram channel Fighterbomber, associated with Russian troops, called the strike “one of the most serious” during the full-scale invasion.
According to the New York Times, the United States has transferred about 20 ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Let us remind you that ATACMS is a tactical ballistic missile produced by the American defense company Lockheed Martin. ATACMS missiles can be installed on the M270 MLRS (two missiles) or HIMARS (one missile), which are already in Ukraine. Until now, GMLRS projectiles were transferred to Ukraine for HIMARS systems. ATACMS flight range is 300 kilometers.
